My family has been visiting Northern Michigan since my mom was a little girl which resulted in epic roadtrips when I was a kid from southern California to Michigan and back. On the road and in Michigan I remember my mom pulling over after seeing a photograph to make - introducing me to the idea of taking pictures for pleasure. Recently, my family stumbled across some old 8mm video from her time as a little girl in Michigan, reinforcing the idea that photography and video is a way to persevere family history. Michigan holds a special place in my family’s hearts and I’ve enjoyed trying capture the soul of the area in addition to adding to our family history through photography.
